Mobile SEO: The Key to the Future of Your Business

Today, mobile sites are among the most important marketing tools for growing businesses. Communicating with your clients and prospective business partners over mobile devices enables you to receive greater feedback from clients, leaving you with a better understanding of what they are looking for.

Is your mobile site failing to connect with users? If you’re not seeing a lot of searches, your site could very well be the problem! A bad mobile experience can easily detract visitors- which can affect your business!

Earlier this year, Google’s Yoshikiyo Kato and Pierre Far posted a blog on mobile SEO, explaining the biggest mistakes business owners make when it comes to this strategy- and key elements make mobile marketing techniques a success.

  1. Ensure that your pages redirect appropriately. This is an extremely important step of mobile SEO. First, make certain, for both search engines and users, your mobile and desktop webpage redirect appropriately. Mobile users who access desktop pages should be redirected to the mobile site, and vice versa. Even if you do not keep separate websites for mobile and desktop, a view of the desktop site on phones still gives you exposure.
  2. Optimize the site for all mobile devices. Some mobile websites may redirect only Android smartphone users, leaving out iPhone and Windows users. This will leave hundreds of users of the loop! Optimize content for all mobile phones to give users a better experience.
  3. Don’t include unplayable videos or content on your mobile site. Video content is a great way to engage mobile users and increase traffic to your site; however, many mobile devices do not have the capabilities to support videos or view certain content. To enhance the mobile site experience for users, make certain that any videos included are supported by as many mobile devices as possible.
