Social Media Marketing Check List

Social media platforms such as Facebook, Google+ and Twitter are great ways to reach current and potential patients. Social Media Marketing (SMM) helps you grow your online presence and cultivate your reputation on the Web.

Expanding your reach and boosting interaction over social media not only increases your online visibility, it also attracts new business to your practice. In fact, social media marketing has been shown to increase patient-to-patient referrals.

Here’s a check list for managing your social media:

  • Balance Your Accounts. From LinkedIn to Pinterest, there are many social media and microblogging sites, but it’s best to limit your practice’s online presence to three or four social media platforms. We recommend at least having official Facebook, Google+ and Twitter accounts.
  • Regularly Update. To build upon the first point, it’s better to have a few active social media accounts, rather than many accounts that are neglected. It’s easier to have three or four main accounts that you can update on a regular basis — or at least once a week.
  • Let Employees Advocate Your Brand. After making sure that your staff understand your guidelines for how your practice should be represented online, encourage them to share content from your company’s social media posts. This will help your practice reach more users, which can increase the flow of traffic to your site.
  • Crosslink Your Accounts. Another way to make sure that your SMM activity attracts visitors to your practice’s official site is by having all of your social media accounts’ profiles include a link to your site and a bio that briefly describes your practice. Also, make sure that your website’s homepage or header contains buttons that are linked to your social media accounts.
