MyAdvice Report Analyzes Online Reviews and Digital Engagement Across Dental Practices

Report demonstrates key market differentiators and where the practices fall short.

PARK CITY, UTAH – November 5, 2021 – MyAdvice, a leading provider of software-based marketing solutions for medical, dental, and law practices, today released the results of its 2021 Dental Practice Online Presence Benchmark Report. The company analyzed data from more than 10,000 dental and dental specialty practices in the U.S.

MyAdvice’s analysis found that the vast majority of dental practices have high online review scores. Notably, 90% of practices achieved an average patient review score of at least 4.0, while 53 of practices scored between 4.0 and 5.0. Only 37% of practices achieved a 5.0 patient review score.

“To edge out the competition for new patients, dental practices really need more than a 4-star review on average – and that applies to retaining current patients as well,” said Shawn Miele, CEO of Advice Media. “Our analysis found that the stakes are high, but with a few strategic steps, dental practices can position themselves well for patient acquisition and success.”

Additional findings include:

  • Review volumes among dental practices are low with the median average number of reviews at 37. What’s more, 25% of dental practices have fewer than 10 patient reviews. Best practices offered in the report suggest that dental practices look to edge out the competition by asking more patients to leave reviews.
  • Two-thirds of dental practices have not had a new review in the past month. Nearly half haven’t received a new review in the past 3 months, and 20% hadn’t acquired a new review in one year. The report suggests that a lack of recent reviews can deter prospective patients from making an appointment as they research dental practices.
  • Only 1 in 9 practices have accurate local listings. Lack of current information can negatively impact search engine rankings and patient experience, according to the report.
