Driven by ambitious growth plans, Dr. Saltz’s team realized that simply setting up shop and waiting for reviews to start pouring in is an unreliable strategy. In fact, according to Review Trackers, businesses that proactively request reviews enjoy higher ratings than those that passively wait for unprompted reviews — an average of 4.34 versus 3.89 stars, respectively. Additionally, reviews are critical for more than just building credibility. They appear next to business listings in Maps and Search, and can therefore increase visibility on Google.

Client Pro Tip: Ask at the Right Time

Dr. Saltz’s team set out to learn when they were most likely to get the highest response rate to review requests. They were methodical with this experiment, consistently using statistically significant samples. From the 50 to 70 requests sent daily, they tested sending immediately after the appointment, at the end of each day to each patient that day, and every Friday to each patient that week. It turned out that sending daily at the end of the day was the time when patients were most likely to respond.
