Advice Media Receives the YSA Circle of Excellence Spirit of Service Award

We are proud to announce that Advice Media has been selected to receive the Youth Sports Alliance (YSA) Circle of Excellence Spirit of Service Award. The Spirit of Service Award is established to honor and recognize great individuals or corporations who have contributed time, talent, and support to the Youth Sports Alliance and our community.

Our Contribution

2020 was a challenging year for businesses, but also for our local non-profits. During the 2020-21 season, The YSA faced some very real issues around the transportation of children to their after-school ski programs. Providing transportation is critical for kids from economically underprivileged families who can’t otherwise afford it.

As of late last year, buses were suddenly no longer an option. Yet, YSA found a creative way to get kids to the slopes: they contracted a local transportation company with a number of SUVs. However, they needed chaperones in each vehicle to help get the kids to and from the mountain, as well as additional coordinators at the mountain base.

Advice Media offered all Park City employees the option to volunteer as many Friday afternoons as they wished or could from January to March 2021. We had broad participation and we had many volunteers who helped more than one day. They met the kids at school, helped them to get dressed, taught them how to put on ski boots and carry skis, loaded them in the SUV’s, got them to their ski instructors then did the whole thing in reverse at the end of the afternoon. It was rewarding work. It quite literally saved the program.

Award Event Details

Circle of Excellence Award winners will be honored on Sunday, September 26th, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Canyons Village Forum in Park City. YSA award winners and nominees, coaches, and families along with the entire community will share in the celebration.

The goal of the Circle of Excellence event is to recognize young athletes for their achievements on snow, ice, and sleds as well as in the community. The YSA will honor athletes who train with one of their seven-member clubs and students who participate in the Get Out & Play or ACTiV8 afterschool programs for achievement and leadership in sport. Awards will be given for the following categories: All-Star, Champion, Leadership, Sam Jackenthal Showstopper of the Year, Breakthrough Performance of the Year, Spirit of Service, Hall of Fame, Get Out & Play Core Values and ACTiV8 Awards.
